Book of Messages

DESCRIPTION

This empty journal smells faintly of your hometown and urges you to write to those you hold dear. The owner of this tome can rip out any of the 200 pages and send them to a target creature or location. You must have viewed the place you want to send the scroll at least once, or be familiar with in the case of a person, and it must be on the same plane. In the event that you attempt to send the scroll to a person or place not on your plane, the message disintegrates in your hand.

Upon arriving at the destination, the scroll will stay in place until read. Scrolls sent to a person typically arrive before their feet but may be transported into a bag or hand if the sender is well versed with the target. If desired this piece of paper can disintegrate, leaving no trace. Each page holds enough space for 50 words. Once the journal has been entirely expended, its covers and binding disintegrate into worthless ash.

Chronicler’s Tome

DESCRIPTION

Fine copper edges the sides and binding of this pair of massive tomes, and the blank pages within urge you to document your travels. The owner of this tome can scribe words or drawings on any of the 400 pages and it will be instantly transcribed onto the pages of the other. There is no limit except the size of your handwriting. Chronicler’s Tomes are typically made in pairs but any number of tomes can be linked to one another.

Any page torn from the Chronicler’s Tome becomes non-magical and loses the ability to transcribe to its pair. Should the tomes be on different planes from each other, there is a 5% chance that the words written in one will not transcribe to the other (local weather conditions on different planes may worsen this chance significantly). When both books are on the same plane, all uncopied passages are transcribed.

You can clear any page, or even the entire tome, of text by drawing a command symbol either on the front page (for the entire book) or the desired page. Upon creation you can designate a Master copy that will keep all text, regardless of erasure. Should the Master copy reach completion, either by filling every page or by drawing a command symbol, it simply becomes a magically warded book. The base tome no longer accepts writing until another tome has been paired.

Chronicler’s Tome, Coded

DESCRIPTION

A complex rune is etched into the bridge of the glasses paired with this tome, allowing you to read the gibberish you write on the page. The owner of this tome can scribe words or drawings on any of the 400 pages and it will be instantly transcribed onto the pages of the other, hidden behind a complex code. There is no limit except the size of your handwriting. Coded Chronicler’s Tomes are typically made in pairs but any number of tomes can be linked to one another, each having their own linked key-item.

Outside eyes could attempt to decipher the text within at a DC 30 Linguistics. Comprehend Languages does not allow a caster to understand the writing within, but will show them the magical nature of said language. Tongues translates this coded text normally.

Whisperstones, Minor

DESCRIPTION

This relatively simple cuff of copper wire is worn on the ear, the small stone at its end occasionally whispering messages to you. Whisperstones are typically made in pairs, but can be made with an entire party in mind. When you touch the Whisperstone or speak a command word, you can communicate to any ally within 200 feet by whispering your message to them. When you whisper, the message is audible to all Whisperstone wearers in range.

Those nearby and not wearers of Whisperstones can hear your spoken whispers with a DC 25 Perception check, but anything whispered to you is safe. Magical silence, 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal (or a thin sheet of lead), or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks this effect, but it does not have to travel in a straight line. Whisperstones transmit sound, not meaning; they do not transcend language barriers.

Whisperstones fill the ring slot, but are worn on the ear.

DESCRIPTION

This delicate cuff of gold-plated copper wire is worn over the entire ear, the gold-veined stone practically humming with arcane power. Linkstones are typically made in pairs, but can be made with an entire party in mind. When you touch the Linkstone or will to work, you can communicate to any ally within your plane without a word.

Should an ally not be on the same plane, there is a 5% chance that the communication will not send (local conditions on other planes may worsen this chance significantly). Linkstones transmit semi-universally and recognizably as you; a creature with as low as 1 intelligence can understand the tone behind your communicate, though it may not be able to communicate a response.

Linkstones fill the ring slot, but are worn on the ear. They may be created as slotless items, but cost double the listed prices.

Lover’s Lockets

DESCRIPTION

This pair of small silver lockets contain a picture of the creature the other holds dear. When touched gently with intent, it becomes warm enough to become noticeable to the other. When the designated creatures are holding each locket, they may briefly share memories for one minute. You may only show the target one of your memories, or request that they show you a memory.

Lover’s Lockets are created with the pair in mind, but may be given willfully to another should one decide to unattune. The rules presented are for a neck slot item, but can be a Wrist slot or Slotless item.

DESCRIPTION

This pair of small golden lockets contain a ribbon-wrapped locket of hair of the creature the other holds dear. When touched gently with intent, it becomes warm enough to become noticeable to the other. When the designated creatures are holding each locket, they may briefly share memories for one minute. You may show the target one of your memories, show the target one of it’s own memories, or view one of the target’s memories. Should you intend to view one of the target’s memories without it’s permission, it may roll a DC 13 Will save.

Lover’s Lockets are created with the pair in mind, but may be given willfully to another should one decide to unattune. The rules presented are for a neck slot item, but can be a Wrist slot or Slotless item.

Betrayer’s Locket

DESCRIPTION

Though it resembles the Lover’s Locket, a close enough look will show you that the red ribbon that ties this lock of hair is stained with blood. These paired lockets are similar, but not the same. One functions exactly as a basic Lover’s Locket. The other filled with malicious intent. Should you intend to view one of the target’s memories without it’s permission, they have to pass a Will save of DC 13 plus the enhancement bonus or grant the wearer of the Betrayer’s Locket access to their memory. If they succeed on their save, they are aware that you tried to wrongfully access their memories. If they fail, you may access a 1 minute long memory of your choosing; this is not like flipping through a book, you must have a specific subject or question in mind (‘who were you with last night’ or ‘what did the emperor say to you in your meeting’).

Betrayer’s Lockets are created with the pair in mind, but may be given willfully to another should one decide to unattune. The rules presented are for a neck slot item, but can be a Wrist slot or Slotless item. Slotless versions of this item cost double the listed price.

Moonlenses

DESCRIPTION

The focal point of this delicately crafted set of eyeware is the deep black lenses. When worn by a creature with Light Sensitivity or Light Blindness, these lenses protect the wearer from the effect of sunlight.

This effect does not protect them from the effects of Daylight, or any similar light spell of caster level 3 or higher. Should someone target the wearer or should the wearer step within the effects of a daylight or higher spell, the lenses cease to function for the duration that they are inside the spell. Should the wearer exit, they must wait an additional 1d4 rounds for the lenses to function again. Both lenses must be worn in order for the magic to be effective.

Moonlenses can also be bought in a Greater form. In this case, they function even when Daylight or a similar light spell is cast.
